Roni prepares gluten-free and vegan meals in Saugerties, NY and delivers them all the way to NYC. Whenever I find myself crazy busy, or needing a delicious reset, I always call upon her to send me a bag of meals for the entire week (or two) to get me back on track.

I use contrast to let something stand out on the page. It gives my eye a clue about where to start, and what's most important. 2. I use the grid and page guides to align elements on the page. This helps to create order. 3. Generous margins and plenty of breathing space help designs feel elegant and upscale. 4. I admit it, tonight, I'm stuck. But I decided to s I admit it, tonight, I'm stuck. But I decided to show up anyway. Admitting that I feel this way is always my first step to feeling better. I wonder if it has to do with my mid-cycle, or the full moon, but something about today just felt completely opposite of where I was several weeks ago where creativity just poured out of me. I do like observing my own waves of creativity-throughout the day, the month, or the year. I watch to observe patterns of when I feel on, versus when I just can't seem to get there. But a part of my exploration with this Instagram channel is to find compassionate ways through these moments. I know we all have them, so I'm here to tell you, it's okay. Rest. I love succulents because they are the only plants I love succulents because they are the only plants that seem to tolerate my "care." They are nature's picture of resilience as even after extreme conditions, they can bounce back. That's what I try to envision when I think about my own journey of renewal post-pandemic. Not sure if it's safe to say "post" yet, but at least where we are now is a little bit less intense. I don't have the energy in me to go into all the details of what these last three years have been like for my family, but needless to say, it's been a stressful time as we became parents for the first time in late 2019, just 4 months before covid hit our shores here in NY. I've been working to slowly regain my sense of balance after what felt like the most stressful time of my entire life, so I hope to share more about what that's looking like in future posts. For tonight's post, I wanted to share a little bit For tonight's post, I wanted to share a little bit about my favorite tools I use in my creative process on my desktop. One common thread you'll notice is that they are mostly free... that's the way I like to keep it in order to keep my operating expenses down. Adobe Suite: I actually prefer to use my older Adobe software before all those subscriptions became a thing. I find all the subscriptions add up and before you know it, you're paying some hefty costs just to do your work. But for those who want to design without those fees, you can also try the @affinitybyserif line of software that I've encouraged colleagues to try. They've all spoken very positively about it. Canva: this is another great free tool for design. I am going to be covering it in more detail because I think it's a wonderful tool for you do-it-yourselfers. Fireftp: my fave FTP tool. It's super easy and straightforward. I use it to upload files directly to my website. Might be a bit too complicated for today's click and drag website programs, but if you need to go old school with your uploads, this is a good one. Wordpress: this is my go to website platform because I like how much control it gives me over my content. Although, I do also like Square space because of it's designs. So I can go with either one. Mail Chimp: I think most people know about Mail Chimp for emails but I'll share for anyone who's just getting started with email marketing. They have very powerful tools and you can start for free. I do like how their emails generally get delivered to people's inboxes more than many other email programs I've used. Slack: this is my favorite productivity tool. It's a chatting service I use to connect with my colleagues. It's an absolute must for working from home. There's even a handy huddle feature to connect with my work buds quickly over voice without waiting to load video etc. Asana: and my fave productivity tool of all is Asana, a project management software. I've found a way to set up a free account (you have to click around to skip the subscriptions) and basically just invite my teammates to join me in it. It's what keeps my head screwed on straight between all my projects.
